Confidential Outpatient Detox
Over the past ten years, Dr. Mohammad has provided confidential at-home Outpatient Alcohol Detox and Drug Detox services, specially tailored for executives and celebrities who’d prefer to avoid the media attention and scrutiny of some treatment centers. A board-certified MD directly supervises patients, and an assigned caseworker provides personalized, hands-on support.
Medical Detox for out of town patients can be completed in as little as 3-5 days, depending on the patient’s drug of choice (opiates, cocaine and stimulants). Each patient is evaluated individually, to determine his or her suitability for Outpatient Detox. Participants in our outpatient detox program enjoy first class comfort at one of Malibu’s most desirable hotels, and will be escorted to our offices for daily visits. The patient’s supervising MD and caseworker will be available 24/7 by pager or phone.
Specializing in the individualized analysis and treatment of a variety of mood disorders, Dr. Mohammad’s Dual Diagnosis Treatment, Opiate Rehab & Opiate Treatment has brought peace and comfort back to the lives of men and women who have used alcohol or drugs in an effort to “self-medicate.”

»Alcohol Treatment
Dr. Mohammad begins his acclaimed drug and alcohol treatment with a process known as medical detox, which cleanses your body of addictive chemicals and toxins in a safe, comfortable manner. His innovative approach treats alcoholism and addiction as diseases of the body and mind. He’ll work tirelessly with you to identify root causes that created your alcoholism, and also methods of combating your normal triggers. In almost no time, you’ll have the tools and resources necessary to live a happy, productive life free from alcoholism.
»What are addictions?
Addictions are compulsions to use and abuse things to an excessive and destructive extent. These compulsions are very powerful and produce a life-threatening and self-perpetuating process that can end in disability or death for the sufferer, as well as cause family members and loved ones pain and suffering.
»Anxiety Disorders
Including panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and specific phobias.
Symptoms of these disorders vary, but most include feelings of terror or intense fear that strike suddenly, and without warning. Theses feelings may be accompanied by chest pain, sweating, irregular heartbeat, unrealistic worry, a driving impulse to perform a task ritually, or an extreme sense that one is being judged harshly by others.
»Bipolar Disorder (sometimes called manic depression)
Mood swings
between unusual optimism and extreme irritability.
Symptoms include grandiose beliefs about one’s ability, sleeping little yet feeling highly energetic, thoughts racing from one idea to another, talking so rapidly others can’t keep up, acting recklessly without consideration of consequences.
»Depression
With feelings of sadness, hopelessness, worthlessness, or guilt.
Symptoms include difficulty concentrating or making decisions, loss of appetite, difficulty sleeping, a lack of energy, and slowed movement and speech.
»Dual Dignosis Treatment
The term dual diagnosis is used to describe the comorbid condition of a person considered to be suffering from a mental illness and a substance abuse problem. There is considerable debate surrounding the appropriateness of the term being used to describe a heterogeneous group of individuals with complex needs and a varied range of problems. The concept can be used broadly, for example depression and alcoholism, or it can be restricted to specify severe mental illness (e.g. psychosis, schizophrenia) and substance misuse disorder (e.g. cannabis abuse).
»Hypomania
A mood state which like mania is characterized by persistent and pervasive elated or irritable mood, and behaviors and thoughts that are consistent with such a mood state. It is distinguished from mania by the absence of psychotic symptoms and less impact of functioning. Hypomanic episodes occur in some mood disorders.
»Mood Disorders
The two principal classifications for mood disorders are bi-polar (also known as manic-depression) and depression alone. Bi-polarity is characterized by wild mood swings ranging from deep sadness and depression to euphoric and manic type behavior. Depression is defined as a deep overriding sadness and feelings of despair. These feelings are all pervasive and don't disappear in time.
»Panic Disorder
People with this disorder have feelings of terror that strike suddenly and repeatedly with no warning. Other symptoms of a panic attack include sweating, chest pain, palpitations (unpleasant sensations of irregular heartbeats) and a feeling of choking, which might make the person feel like he or she is having a heart attack or "going crazy."
»Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Following a natural disaster, car or plane crash, kidnapping, violent assault, rape, or terrorist attack.
Symptoms include re-experiencing the event through intrusive memories, bad dreams, or flashbacks. These distressing symptoms can appear “out of the blue” at any time, or can be triggered simply by reminders of the original trauma: a noise, image, or smell.
Those whose struggles with alcohol or drugs are made more difficult by these symptoms will appreciate—and benefit from—Dual Diagnosis Treatment. In addition to treating these dual diagnosis conditions, Dr. Mohammad’s unique, holistic approach also addresses the co-occurring conditions accompanying drug use and addiction. Together with a supportive and skilled staff, patients will not only get better; they’ll get well. Malibu Horizon is dedicated to treating all aspects of drug and alcohol addiction, both medically (using cutting edge medications to avoid unpleasant withdrawal symptoms) and psychosocially (with individualized therapy based on the latest research). The program can be completed with or without 12-Step programs, depending on the patient’s needs and concerns.
In order to participate in outpatient detox and / or treatment, an individual must be ambulatory, have a low risk for withdrawal complications, and have a strong support system consisting of family members or significant others.
