“Most of the people who run Drug and Alcohol Treatment facilities are themselves “in recovery.” In their desire to help others, they cobble together an Alcohol rehab or drug treatment program based on what worked for them, or what they’ve seen others do. We wouldn’t dream of using the 12 Steps to treat diabetes or heart disease, yet most Drug and Alcohol Treatment facilities claim recovery is impossible without these steps!

In order to participate in outpatient detox and / or treatment, an individual must be ambulatory, have a low risk for withdrawal complications, and have a strong support system consisting of family members or significant others.
